The world around us is full of inspiring people, heroes both big and small, who dedicate themselves to making change happen at different levels.
In 2000, Rotarian and former Royal Navy search and rescue diver Tom Henderson founded ShelterBox to provide emergency shelter to people affected by disasters and humanitarian crises around the world. What started as an idea in Cornwall, UK has now sheltered more than 1.5 million people in more than 100 countries around the world.
Last year, a 9-year-old boy of Napa, CA saw a story of a 5-year-old who was denied lunch because she couldn’t pay for it. He then decided to collect his allowance to pay off the lunch debt that had been accrued by students at his school, stating “Well, I don’t want my classmates to have to pay for that [debt].”
Inspiring people can come from anywhere, but they don’t often get the recognition they deserve for their selfless acts. We’d like to help change that.
- Do you know a teacher who is working hard to support their students in a new COVID reality?
- Do you know a healthcare worker putting themselves at risk to be available to save others’ lives?
- Do you know a police, fire or emergency service man or woman running into danger to keep everyone else safe?
- Do you know any children pulling their pennies to inspire and create change?
These are only a handful of examples of those who work hard to improve this community.
If you would like to nominate someone in your community as the champion for change they are, please fill out this form for them to be considered for the next Stromsoe Insurance Community Champion!
