February 2, 2014 is approaching fast. The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will face off in what is the most highly anticipated football game of the year. While some will be braving Mother Nature’s fickle February whims by watching the game at Met Life Stadium in Rutherford, NJ, chances are you’ll either watch from the comfort of your favorite La-Z-Boy recliner or attend a Super Bowl 2014 viewing party with friends or family.
Whatever your viewing pleasure for the main event happens to be, it’s important to keep a few critical safety facts in mind.
- Don’t drink and drive. Drinking and driving numbers traditionally spike after the big game each year and it’s simply not worth risking your life or the lives of other people on the roads. Don’t forget the actual dollars and cents of DUIs either, which cost a minimum of $10,000 and that’s if there are no injuries or deaths as a result.
- Be a good sport whether the guys on the gridiron are able to do so or not. It’s depressing when your team is losing or you feel that the refs are making bad calls. However, it’s important to be mindful of other people in the room or at the event and try to have a pleasant time regardless of who the winner is.
- Don’t leave home without a good auto insurance policy. No matter how careful you are about avoiding driving under the influence, other people on the roads aren’t quite as considerate.
